Toy Machine is an art-driven skateboard company lead by praised artist Ed Templeton.  Ed Templeton started Toy Machine in the early 90′s as a way to express himself in industry that was so fueled by corny cartoon graphics and had an overall lack of real “art.”  Now, Toy Machine is a staple in the skateboarding community, putting out a series of videos that mix art with skateboarding, which is considered an art by itself.  The film features about 8 guys who each have filmed their own tricks in which it has been edited to about a 3-4 minute section each.  Each skater has his own style on what kind of things/spots he skates, as well as how the person skates in general. Think of skateboarding style as a fingerprint, there maybe someone who looks just like you, but it is impossible for it to be the same.  The video also has a distinct soundtrack in which each song was carefully chosen to go along with each person’s part.  It was a mix of punk, psychedelic, and fuzzy rock n roll.  Ed Templeton is a world renowned artist who frequently has big art shows in France as well as Japan.  He does a lot of the art for the clothing company called RVCA.  His trademark and mascot of the toy machine is a little monster called “transistor.”
